Premiere Vision NY: Market Gives New Venue a Big Thumbs Up!

Exhibitors and visitors gave Premiere Vision New York a big thumbs up on its new venue.

This session (January 21-22, 2020) saw the New York edition of the iconic Paris-based materials exhibition move from the Piers on New York's West Side to the heart of the city's Fashion District.

The new venue, The Center, at 5th Avenue and 38th Street, is a converted office building that now serves as a venue for events.

The advantage, aside from its mid-town location, is that it doesn't have that vast openess that typical purpose-built exhibition spaces have.  While those massive venues work for certain types of fairs, in particular those that focus on machinery, they often feel too 'empty' when showing finer products such as fabrics.

Premiere Vision New York grouped exhbitors into various rooms on the ground and first floor of the venue.  This created a sense of 'discovery' as visitors moved from one room to the next, almost like being at a museum where you don't know what you might find around the next corner.

Although the rooms could be crowded during peak times during the 2-day show, that also created a buzz that is often missing in larger venues where fairs often feel empty, despite good visitor attendence.

In the new venue booths featured an open format that did away with the typical 'stand' build out that separates one exhibitor from the next.

Instead, the open plan that Premiere Vision New York used allowed visitors to take in - at a glnance - a wider view of products in each aisle.  This increased the likelihood that a visitor who was heading to a specific exhibitor might stumble upon something new and eyecatching.

Overall, the high vibe January session was a great way to energize the industry and get brands and suppliers excited about the next season.
